What this tool does
Makes a name tracing worksheet for one child or a whole class. Paste a list with one name per line and you get one page per child in a single PDF — no re-typing, no printing thirty separate files. Each page runs three stages top to bottom: Trace (light grey letters to trace over), Copy (a tracing row followed by an empty one, so they try it themselves straight away) and Write (empty lines only). Switching a stage off gives a shorter page, which is how you match the sheet to where that child actually is. Line height follows the sizes each grade uses — 1 inch for Pre-K down to 1/2 inch for Grade 2 and up — and the ruling is either dotted thirds or four-line. Long names are shrunk to fit rather than clipped, and the page footer carries the child's name and page number so a stack of printed sheets can be sorted back into piles afterwards.
How to use it

One name per line. Paste straight from a spreadsheet — leading numbers like “1. Olivia” are stripped automatically.
- 2Choose how much help
Keep all three stages for a child who is still learning the letter shapes. Switch off Write for a shorter page, or leave only Trace for a first attempt.
- 3Download and print
One PDF, one page per child. Print at Actual size / 100% — “Fit to page” will shrink the lines and the letters will not sit where you taught them to.
FAQ
- Can I really do the whole class at once?
- Yes. Paste one name per line and the PDF comes out with one page per child, in the order you typed them. The footer on each page carries the name and the page number.
- What are the three stages for?
- Trace gives a light model to trace over. Copy pairs a tracing row with an empty one, so the child tries it straight after. Write is empty lines only. Keeping all three on one page means a child moves from copying to independent writing without you printing a second sheet.
- Why is my printed page smaller than the preview?
- The print dialog defaults to “Fit to page”, which scales the sheet to your printer's margins. Choose “Actual size” or set scale to 100% and your 3/4 inch lines will really be 3/4 inch.
- What happens with a very long name?
- It is shrunk to fit the line rather than clipped. If a name has to shrink a lot you will see a note suggesting landscape, which gives it more width.
- Do you store the names I paste?
- No. The pages are drawn in your browser and nothing is uploaded. That is deliberate: a class list is pupil data, and the safest place for it is the teacher's own machine.
